Introduction
Keeping up-to-date on Canadian statistics is helpful so we can have proper perspective about the situation Canada is dealing with regarding the epidemiological prevalence of COVID-19.
Statistics related to COVID-19 vaccine Adverse Health reactions that the Canadian government reports can also be used to increase our knowledge as part of our process of Informed Consent for taking a vaccine for ourselves, and our children. Across Canada provincial governments have started administering young people in the 12-17 age group.
Canadian COVID-19 Statistics – May 21, 2021

Canadian COVID-19 Vaccine Adverse Health Event Statistics – May 21, 2021
⮚ 5,015 AEFI’s (.033% of all doses administered); 32.7 reports per 100,000 doses administered
- 28 are still under investigation
- 23 of these deaths are unlikely linked to a COVID-19 vaccine
- 3 deaths could not be assessed due to insufficient information.
- 2 deaths were likely linked to the vaccine
(refer to the Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome information below)
⮚ 32.7 reports per 100,000 doses administered (out of a total of 5,015 reports) up to and including May 7, 2021.
Definition of Serious AEFI:
An event is considered serious if it:
- results in death
- is life-threatening (an event/reaction in which the patient was at real, rather than hypothetical, risk of death at the time of the event/reaction)
- requires in-patient hospitalization or prolongation of existing hospitalization
- results in persistent or significant disability/incapacity, or
- results in a congenital anomaly/birth defect

- Circulatory: 147
- COVID-19: 54
- Liver and Renal systems: 8
- Miscarriages: 3; Fetal growth restriction: 3
- Nerves & Central Nervous System: 130
